Behavioral Health Staff Awarded "Hidden Hero"

Gala

Mono County Behavioral Health would like to congratulate Kasandra Montes, who was recognized by the Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce during its Pandemic Champions Award Gala on April 27. Alongside other community members, Kasandra was awarded the “Hidden Hero” award, thanks to her invaluable work coordinating outreach to Mono County’s Latinx community since the beginning of the pandemic.

The head of the Latinx Outreach Committee and Mono County Behavioral Health’s Cultural Outreach Committee, Kasandra has used her unique insights to engage the Latinx community about COVID-19 and the vaccine. While the pandemic brought to light disparities that have existed in our community for some time, Kasandra is harnessing the focus on equity to make real, lasting changes in Mammoth Lakes and Mono County.

Kasandra – thank you for helping us make permanent inclusive change and congratulations on your award!

Other county staff and agencies who were nominated for or awarded a Pandemic Champions Award were Robin Roberts, Dr. Tom Boo, Rhonda Duggan, Stacy Corless, and Mono County Public Health. Thank you to the Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce and the Sierra Classic Theatre for taking this time to celebrate our collective achievements and honor the members of our community who did extraordinary work to help keep Mono County safe.
